HPA-AN CAVING AND MAWLAMYINE EXPLORATIONS

Day 1: Yangon – Golden Rock (110 miles)
HIT Myanmar tour guide will pick you up in the morning for the trip to Golden Rock today. After 4 hours on wheels, we will reach the town of Kinpun. Arrive this town we will start our trip to Kyaiktiyo (Golden Rock) by truck. Kyaiktiyo is the main attraction of Mon State for both locals and foreigners and is considered as the third most sacred site after Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon and Mahamuni Pagoda in Mandalay. Novices, monks and nuns from all over the country will gather here in both Full moon day and New Year (Water Festival in April) to praise the Buddha. Golden Rock is a boulder of about 20 metres in height with a 7 metre high stupa on top covered with gold leaf giving it is golden appearance. It is thought that the boulder maintains its balance on the edge of the ridge where it sits due to a precisely placed precious Buddha hair inside the stupa for decades.
Day 2: Golden Rock – Hpa – An
After breakfast, we will continue driving to Hpa-An, a picturesque town lie on the eastern bank of Thanlywin river. The town itself is famous for its multiple caves of beautiful wood and limestone carving. After 4 hour on road, you will arrive Zaydan Road, the town central market. Get to the local teahouse for a few minute rest then we will start our first visit to Sadan (Saddon) Cave, which opens into a gigantic cavern filled with Buddhas and pagodas. Continue our visit to other caves in the area include Yethaepyan and Kawtgon Caves (south west of Hpa-An), which are situated on the west side of the Thanlwin River; all the caves are marvelous beauty by the Buddha sculptures and religious history. Back to the Lumbini Garden for fresh and wonder before getting back to hotel.
Day 3: Hpa – An – climbing to Mount Zewgabin
This morning we will head south of Hpa-An to first visit Kyaukka Latt Paya, this pagoda is, a truly unique paya sits on the top of a limestone column in the circular lake, a magical temple with full of Buddha images and pictures. Highlight of the day is climbing to the Mt. Zewgabin, reach the top for the wonderful landscape of Hpa-An, visiting the monastery of the top and wait for the striking sunset. Back to hotel for overnight.
Day 4: Hpa – An – Mawlamyine (36 miles)
Today we will continue reaching out for Mawlamyine, the ancient looming and gentle city, capital of Mon State and once, the busiest port of the England colonial. This beautiful city lies in the middle of 4 rivers which both connect and flow their ways to the sea: Thanlwin, Attrium, Gyaing and Thaungyin. The laid back atmosphere and lack of tourist tricks makes Mawlamyine the most desired town for foreigners.
Start at Uzina Paya then head north to nearby U Khanti Paya, hightlighted site of the day is the impressive Kyaikthanlan Paya, the most famous pagoda of town which was built during 875 AD by King Mutpi Raja for its large bronze Buddha image seated on a beautiful throne.
Back to hotel for refresh and dinner.
A covered walkway runs back into town, but it’s worth pressing on to see the mirrored interior of Mahamuni Paya, near the Queen Sein Don Monastery, the charming and colorful building represent its antique Western – style.
Day 5: Mawlamyine
Wake up early this morning to explore the Zrigyi market, the central trading point of Mawlamyine. Take pictures many products in town, silk, cotton, fruit… Today we will cross the river to Bilu Island (Bilu Kyun) by a motorize boat. Located to the west of Mawlamyine, this large island contains many handicraft villages, from the coconut-fiber ropes, hand-made rubber bands to bamboo hat.
Back to Mawlamyine and visit the largest reclining Buddha in the world at 180 meters in length and 30 meters in height. Back to hotel.
Day 6: Mawlamyine – Bago – Yangon (177 miles)
Wake up today for breakfast and we will transfer back to Yangon. Stop near Bago for lunch and enjoy the Bago Archeological Zone if time permit. We arrive in Yangon in late afternoon. Service ends upon your hotel arrival
